Date: Ministry in Galilee. A guided comparison of Gospel accounts, not a measured calendar or a claim that every parallel follows the same sequence.
After a demand for a sign, Jesus leaves and warns the disciples about leaven. They think he means their lack of bread, but he recalls the two feedings and challenges their failure to understand.
Matthew names Pharisees and Sadducees; Mark names Pharisees and Herod. Matthew’s destination is Magadan and Mark’s is Dalmanutha, so a proposed marker cannot establish that the names designate an identical landing point.
Primary Scripture
16:1 Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came and tested Jesus by asking Him to show them a sign from heaven.
16:2 But He replied, “When evening comes, you say, ‘The weather will be fair, for the sky is red,’
16:3 and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but not the signs of the times.
16:4 A wicked and adulterous generation demands a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” Then He left them and went away.
16:5 When they crossed to the other side, the disciples forgot to take bread.
16:6 “Watch out!” Jesus told them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
16:7 They discussed this among themselves and concluded, “It is because we did not bring any bread.”
16:8 Aware of their conversation, Jesus said, “You of little faith, why are you debating among yourselves about having no bread?
16:9 Do you still not understand? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
16:10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered?
16:11 How do you not understand that I was not telling you about bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
16:12 Then they understood that He was not telling them to beware of the leaven used in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
8:10 He immediately got into the boat with His disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.
8:11 Then the Pharisees came and began to argue with Jesus, testing Him by demanding from Him a sign from heaven.
8:12 Jesus sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
8:13 And He left them, got back into the boat, and crossed to the other side.
8:14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat.
8:15 “Watch out!” He cautioned them. “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of Herod.”
8:16 So they began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread.
8:17 Aware of their conversation, Jesus asked them, “Why are you debating about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Do you have such hard hearts?
8:18 ‘Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear?’ And do you not remember?
8:19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Twelve,” they answered.
8:20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of broken pieces did you collect?” “Seven,” they said.
8:21 Then He asked them, “Do you still not understand?”

Location evidence
The proposed Dalmanutha marker uses OpenBible’s Majdal candidate; other identifications remain possible and Matthew names Magadan. The following teaching takes place during a crossing, so no one point locates the whole card.

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
