Date: Birth and childhood. A guided comparison of Gospel accounts, not a measured calendar or a claim that every parallel follows the same sequence.

The magi find the child with Mary, honor him and give gold, frankincense and myrrh. Warned in a dream, they return home without reporting to Herod.

Matthew describes a house, not the shepherds’ manger scene. Three gifts do not establish three visitors, and the text does not supply a precise age for Jesus at their arrival.

Primary Scripture

Matthew 2:9–12 (BSB)

2:9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stood over the place where the Child was.

2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with great delight.

2:11 On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh.

2:12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they withdrew to their country by another route.

The imagery of nations bringing gifts is a thematic comparison, not a list of these visitors’ identities.

Location evidence

Matthew places the child in Bethlehem and describes entry into a house. The text does not identify it with the manger scene or name a surviving building.

Interpretation and reuse

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
