Date: Judah · Zedekiah · Reign summary ending in rebellion

Zedekiah rules Judah for eleven years and continues the evil conduct of the preceding kings. The short summary ends with his rebellion against Babylon, setting up the final siege described in the next chapter.

This card is a transition, not a summary of Jerusalem’s destruction. Chapter 25, with the siege, the temple’s burning and the aftermath, belongs to the next era. Zedekiah is Jehoiachin’s uncle, installed by Nebuchadnezzar after the earlier deportation.

## Primary Scripture

[2 Kings 24:18–20 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Kings%2024%3A18%E2%80%9320&version=BSB)

24:18 Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from Libnah.

24:19 And Zedekiah did evil in the sight of the LORD, just as Jehoiakim had done.

24:20 For because of the anger of the LORD, all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He finally banished them from His presence. And Zedekiah also rebelled against the king of Babylon.

## Interpretation and reuse

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
