Date: Preparation and early ministry. A guided comparison of Gospel accounts, not a measured calendar or a claim that every parallel follows the same sequence.

Jesus, his mother, brothers and disciples spend a few days in Capernaum after the Cana wedding.

John supplies a short transition before Passover in Jerusalem. A brief stay here should not be expanded into an unrecorded tour or confused with every later visit to Capernaum.

## Primary Scripture

[John 2:12 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%202%3A12&version=BSB)

2:12 After this, He went down to Capernaum with His mother and brothers and His disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

## Related Scripture

[Matthew 4:13–17 · teaching](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%204%3A13%E2%80%9317&version=BSB)

Matthew later describes Capernaum as a setting for Jesus’s public ministry.

## Location evidence

John explicitly names Capernaum and a short stay. The marker locates the town, not a specific home.

## For the class

Why might an author include a short notice about family and disciples traveling together?

## Interpretation and reuse

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
