Date: Ministry in Galilee. A guided comparison of Gospel accounts, not a measured calendar or a claim that every parallel follows the same sequence.

Crowds from several regions come to hear Jesus and seek healing. Mark describes pressure from the crowd near the sea, Luke describes a level place, and Matthew connects the ministry with Isaiah’s gentle servant.

These passages are parallel ministry portraits in different narrative settings. The visitors’ places of origin are not stops on a journey Jesus is said to have made here.

## Primary Scripture

[Matthew 12:15–21 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2012%3A15%E2%80%9321&version=BSB)

12:15 Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Large crowds followed Him, and He healed them all,

12:16 warning them not to make Him known.

12:17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:

12:18 “Here is My Servant, whom I have chosen, My beloved, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will proclaim justice to the nations.

12:19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear His voice in the streets.

12:20 A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish, till He leads justice to victory.

12:21 In His name the nations will put their hope.”

[Mark 3:7–12 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%203%3A7%E2%80%9312&version=BSB)

3:7 So Jesus withdrew with His disciples to the sea, accompanied by a large crowd from Galilee, Judea,

3:8 Jerusalem, Idumea, the region beyond the Jordan, and the vicinity of Tyre and Sidon. The large crowd came to Him when they heard what great things He was doing.

3:9 Jesus asked His disciples to have a boat ready for Him so that the crowd would not crush Him.

3:10 For He had healed so many that all who had diseases were pressing forward to touch Him.

3:11 And when the unclean spirits saw Him, they fell down before Him and cried out, “You are the Son of God!”

3:12 But He warned them sternly not to make Him known.

[Luke 6:17–19 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%206%3A17%E2%80%9319&version=BSB)

6:17 Then Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of His disciples was there, along with a great number of people from all over Judea, Jerusalem, and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon.

6:18 They had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases, and those troubled by unclean spirits were healed.

6:19 The entire crowd was trying to touch Him, because power was coming from Him and healing them all.

## Location evidence

The Galilean ministry and lakeside setting provide orientation. Named origins of the crowds do not mean that Jesus visits each of those places here.

## For the class

How does Matthew’s servant quotation shape the way the crowds and healings are understood?

## Interpretation and reuse

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
