As the word keeps spreading, Barnabas and Saul return from Jerusalem with John Mark. In Antioch, while the church is worshiping and fasting, the Holy Spirit sets Barnabas and Saul apart, and the church sends them off.

## Primary Scripture

[Acts 12:24–13:3 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts%2012%3A24%E2%80%9313%3A3&version=BSB)

12:24 But the word of God continued to spread and multiply.

12:25 When Barnabas and Saul had fulfilled their mission to Jerusalem, they returned, bringing with them John, also called Mark.

13:1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch), and Saul.

13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

13:3 And after they had fasted and prayed, they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

## Interpretation and reuse

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
