Date: Ministry in Galilee. A guided comparison of Gospel accounts, not a measured calendar or a claim that every parallel follows the same sequence.

In his hometown Jesus teaches in the synagogue, but familiar knowledge of his family becomes grounds for offense. Matthew and Mark describe the people’s unbelief and the limited healings there.

The harmony places this after Luke’s Nazareth scene, but the passages do not establish beyond question two separate visits of rejection. The title describes this account without assigning a certain second occurrence.

## Primary Scripture

[Matthew 13:54–58 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2013%3A54%E2%80%9358&version=BSB)

13:54 Coming to His hometown, He taught the people in their synagogue, and they were astonished. “Where did this man get such wisdom and miraculous powers?” they asked.

13:55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t His mother’s name Mary, and aren’t His brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?

13:56 Aren’t all His sisters with us as well? Where then did this man get all these things?”

13:57 And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”

13:58 And He did not do many miracles there, because of their unbelief.

[Mark 6:1–6 (BSB)](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%206%3A1%E2%80%936&version=BSB)

6:1 Jesus went on from there and came to His hometown, accompanied by His disciples.

6:2 When the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard Him were astonished. “Where did this man get these ideas?” they asked. “What is this wisdom He has been given? And how can He perform such miracles?

6:3 Isn’t this the carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? Aren’t His sisters here with us as well?” And they took offense at Him.

6:4 Then Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household is a prophet without honor.”

6:5 So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them.

6:6 And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He went around from village to village, teaching the people.

Luke’s hometown rejection can be compared directly without forcing a single combined chronology.

## Location evidence

Matthew and Mark describe the hometown setting, understood as Nazareth from the wider narrative. The marker does not certify two separate rejection visits.

## Interpretation and reuse

Narrative order is a reading arrangement, not a proven chronology. Dates retain their stated uncertainty. An identified locality does not establish the exact venue or prove an event. Region extents and routes are illustrative, not surveyed boundaries or ancient roads. Draft material has not completed editorial review.
